Why i started using fluoride and why fluoride really IS important and necessary.by WLI

I know, I know the dangers of flouride, but it IS critical. BELIEVE me, I know.
I have tried going without it and my teeth got really bad.
I don't like using it anymore than anyone else, but it has to be done.

However, you can work your way around it.
Get a (cruelty free) toothpaste with fluoride (Tom's of Maine is good)
Get a fluoride free toothpaste.
Squeeze the entire tube of the fluoride free toothpaste into a container and add maybe 2-3 tsp of the toothpaste with fluoride.
Mix together.
This way the fluoride intake is not as intense, but you are getting some.

Use this in ADDICTION to oil pulling, hydrogen peroxide rinses,etc. See my own mouth health care post

WLI's teeth and mouth care

I combine a lot of shniz. After having problems with decay,and mouth issues. I don't care, I do hardcore on my mouth and teeth.

Gum disease booklet from colgate #2

Not endorsing Colgate. In fact they test on animals and I would never recommend them. But this pamphlet gives good advice.

What is tooth polish?

"Tooth polishing is the act of smoothing the tooth surface. The purpose of polishing is to make it difficult for plaque to accumulate on the tooth surface area. Common practice is to use a prophy cup—a small motorized rubber cup—along with an abrasive polishing compound."

Face slimmer - mouth slimmer exerciser

You may be able to use this to help exercise your jaw if you have TMJ

"There are plenty of interesting you can buy on the internet now a days, but this new device from the Japan Trend Shop takes the cake as the weirdest thing on the internet. It is officially called the Face Slimmer Exercise Mouthpiece.
The Face Slimmer Exercise Mouthpiece
At first glance you might think this is a gag gift, but it’s most definitely no. According to the website you don’t need plastic surgery in order to get and maintain the perfect face. All you need to do is use their Face Slimmer three times a day and your set. You just want to make sure you don’t wear it anywhere in public, people might get the wrong idea as to what it is used for.

The site goes on to say that the mouth exercises are extremely easy. You just pop the device into your mouth and start to sound out vowel sounds. This simple exercise is supposed to strengthen your twelve facial expression mussels, which will give you a more “youthful [and] vibrant face.”

Although the idea of not having to use plastic surgery to maintain your beauty is a good idea..."

NATURAL TOOTH CARE: CAN YOU HEAL CAVITIES AND REGROW TEETH? from Naturally Savvy/ What is Comfrey Root?

Don't use egg shells... yucky, but a calcium carbonate supplement/powder could help :D

"Next up, comfrey root helps with tooth decay because of its ability to amp up bone, tissue, and tooth growth. Blend 1 square inch of comfrey root with 2 tablespoons of water and swish the liquid in your mouth.

Fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, D, E, and K are good for regrowth. Curtis Aiken of Co-Inside says that the following foods are good for regrowing your teeth: Celtic or Pink Himalayan salt, fermented foods, sea vegetables, soaked and sprouted nuts, coconut oil, greens, eggs, and animal flesh. Avoid refined foods that may include added sugars. And make sure you get ample vitamin D by enjoying some fun in the sun."

Comfrey Root - Read because Comfrey is dangerous when swallowed.

"Comfrey is a plant. Even though this plant contains poisonous chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), the leaf, root, and root-like stem (rhizome) are used to make medicine. The amount of PAs found in comfrey changes according to the time of harvesting and the age of the plant. The roots have 10 times higher amounts of PAs than the leaves. Some products labeled “common comfrey” or Symphytum officinale actually contain the more poisonous “prickly comfrey” (Symphytum asperum) or “Russian comfrey” (Symphytum x uplandicum) species.

What is Vitamin K2?

"Vitamin K plays a key role in helping the blood clot, preventing excessive bleeding. Unlike many other vitamins, vitamin K is not typically used as a dietary supplement.

Vitamin K is actually a group of compounds. The most important of these compounds appears to be vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. Vitamin K1 is obtained from leafy greens and some other vegetables. Vitamin K2 is a group of compounds largely obtained from meats, cheeses, and eggs, and synthesized by bacteria.

Vitamin K1 is the main form of vitamin K supplement available in the U.S.

Recently, some people have looked to vitamin K2 to treat osteoporosis and steroid-induced bone loss, but the research is conflicting. At this point there is not enough data to recommend using vitamin K2 for osteoporosis.

Why do people take vitamin K?

Ultimate Home Remedies For Tooth Decay & Cavities @ NaturalCuresNotMedicine

I personally use all of these throughout the day.  I gargle with salt water, then in the middle of the day do a garlic rinse really fast. I made my own toothpaste and put licorice in it. I do some oil pulling before I brush my teeth.

"The first step toward preventing cavities and stopping existing cavities from becoming worse is to take good care of your teeth. Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime. Floss once a day and also clean your tongue daily.

Vitamin K2 And Tooth Decay @ dental essentials

Don't eat animal products. Buy vitamin k2 from Now Foods or any other trusted vegan-friendly businesses.

"Vitamin K2 and tooth decay.

Research shows that vitamin K2 and vitamin D together result in a far greater reduction of tooth decay than does either vitamin alone. In his clinical trials on tooth decay, Dr Weston Price achieved the best results when he gave children vitamin D from cod liver oil together with what he termed fat-soluble “Activator X” found in concentrated butter oil from grass-fed cows. We now know that Activator X is vitamin K2.

How much K2 is necessary?
Dr Price successfully treated tooth decay by supplementing with less than 100 mcg per day of vitamin K2 in concentrated butter oil.

Which form of K2 is best?
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is found in animal and dairy products, and egg yolks in the MK-4 form, and from fermented foods in the MK-7 form, notably from fermented soy beans (natto) and some cheeses.  MK-4 and MK-7 forms of vitamin K2 appear to have somewhat different properties and it is not yet clear which one, if either, is superior.  We recommend supplementing both forms."

Where There is No Dentist booklet @ hesperian

"A healthy tooth is a living part of the body. It is connected by 'life-lines' of blood and nerve to a person's heart and brain. To separate the tooth from the body, or even to interrupt those 'life-lines', means death to the tooth. It also means pain and injury to the body, to the person.

Let us look at it another way. The health of the teeth and gums is related to the health of the whole person, just as the well-being of a person relates to the health of the entire community.

Because of this, the usual separation between dentistry and general health care is neither reasonable nor healthy. Basic care of the teeth and gums — both preventive and curative — should be part of the 'know-how' of all primary health care workers. Ideally, perhaps. Where There Is No Dentist should be a part of Where There Is No Doctor. Think of it as a companion volume, both to Where There Is No Doctor and Helping Health Workers Learn.

Murray Dickson has taken care to write this book in a way that will help the readers see dental care as part of community health and development. The approach is what we call 'people centered.'

Where There Is No Dentist is a book about what people can do for themselves and each other to care for their gums and teeth. It is written for:

village and neighborhood health workers who want to learn more about dental care as part of a complete community-based approach to health;
school teachers, mothers, fathers, and anyone concerned with encouraging dental health in their children and their community; and
those dentists and dental technicians who are looking for ways to share their skills, to help people become more self-reliant at lower cost..."

Keep teeth clean with a Miswak stick (along with brushing)

I would use this in ADDITION to brushing, flossing and mouthwash, not by itself.

"The miswak (miswaak, siwak, sewak, السواك) is a teeth cleaning twig made from the Salvadora persica tree (known as arak in Arabic). A traditional alternative to the modern toothbrush, it has a long, well-documented history and is reputed for its medicinal benefits. It also features prominently in Islamic hygienical jurisprudence.

The miswak is predominant in Muslim-inhabited areas. It is commonly used in the Arabian peninsula, the Horn of Africa, North Africa, parts of the Sahel, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. In Malaysia, miswak is known as Kayu Sugi "

Can You Really Use Banana Peels to Whiten Your Teeth?

"Get a banana that is just ripe (it may still have trace amounts of green at each end, but not too much). Using a banana at this level of ripeness ensures that the peel contains optimal levels of potassium (which is the substance that really brightens the teeth);
Banana Skin

  1. Open the banana like a monkey does by peeling it from the bottom end and upward. Not only does this prevent all of those strange banana “threads” from appearing, but it also lets you have more control over the peel;
  2. Take a small piece of the inside of the peel (you can use kitchen shears to cut off a manageable square) and begin gently rubbing this along your teeth;
  3. Keep the application going for two minutes and be sure you are covering each of the teeth as much as possible with the material inside of the peel;
  4. As you rub and pass the time, the minerals will be absorbed into the teeth and begin to promote the whitening.
  5. Brush with your preferred toothpaste, rinse, and smile with your brighter and whiter teeth!
  6. In addition to the minerals already listed, you will also discover that banana peel contains high amounts of calcium and vitamin D too. These are going to strengthen the teeth and help them to really absorb the minerals better.

How To Tell If You Have A Dead Tooth And Why It's Important

"We have all seen a dark tooth, but is every dark tooth dead? There are many reasons for a tooth to turn dark but the most common is from a trauma. If a trauma occurs elsewhere in the body the area will often have a bruise the next day. The bruise is caused by the rupturing of red blood cells which shows through the skin. If the trauma occurs to a tooth the red blood cells inside the tooth rupture and the discoloration takes a lot longer to show up, since the tooth is so dense. Furthermore, once the discoloration occurs inside the tooth it doesn't go away unlike a bruise to the skin. Often this type of trauma to a tooth will be enough to permanently damage the nerve and leave it "dead."

There are other things that can also kill the nerve of a tooth such as decay, excessive clenching, and gum disease. A simple way to tell if the nerve of the tooth is dead is to apply a small piece of ice or something similar to only the tooth that may be dead and then doing that same test to a different tooth in your mouth.
