Facial diagnosis & Skin Conditions from Vitale Blog
"Do you ever wonder why no matter how much sleep you get, the dark circles under your eyes never seem to get any better? Or why your cheeks are flushed even in winter? Or even why you seem to get blackheads on your nose and can’t get rid of them no matter what topical creams you use? These issues are actually signs that your body is giving you, and using facial analysis, you can work out what the root cause of your dark circles and flushed cheeks and finally do something about it.

From Greek medicine to Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), facial analysis has been used as an indication of the health of the organs or to provide useful clues as to the systems involved in any health issue. In particular TCM has a detailed map of the face including lines, organ zones and colour indications. Using TCM facial analysis principles with relation to skin conditions, the map and colours of the face can help indicate the underlying causes and support the choice of treatment.
Skin conditions that affect the face such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and acne don’t usually affect the entire surface of the face. The affected areas are often confined to particular areas or zones so just by looking at your face you can find out more about the underlying cause of any skin condition. This technique is not confined to skin conditions. It can also be used as a tool to assess wellbeing or to improve skin tone in general."

5 Best Vitamins For Beautiful Skin by Prevention (dot) com
I don't apply products WITH these vitamins, I apply the actual supplement. Buy the liquid gel capsules and cut them open, or buy a bottle of the liquid form of these vitamins. Products are loaded with fillers and are expensive. Remember to buy vegan friendly vitamins :D I just cut the supplement and rub it on my skin.
Vitamin A is amazing!
"You’re diligent about fruits, veggies, and multis, but your skin care routine is still missing vitamins.
Research shows that certain nutrients are essential for preventing and reversing many signs of skin aging. A well-balanced diet is important, of course—eating a variety of healthy foods helps keep skin supple and glowing. But the fact is, "the body delivers only a certain percentage of vitamins to your skin, no matter how much you ingest," says Mary Lupo, MD, clinical professor of dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine. Plus, there's no way to send them straight to your crow's feet or brown spots.
The solution: Applying vitamins topically to deliver maximum anti-aging benefits—everything from improving texture and tone to fading under-eye circles. Follow this user's guide to the letter, and soon your skin will look better than ever."

What are the dangers of Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA)
"Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is an antioxidant consisting of a mixture of two isomeric organic compounds, 2-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole and 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole. It is prepared from 4-methoxyphenol and isobutylene. It is a waxy solid used as a food additive with the E number E320. The primary use for BHA is as an antioxidant and preservative in food, food packaging, animal feed, cosmetics, rubber, and petroleum products. BHA also is commonly used in medicines, such as isotretinoin, lovastatin, and simvastatin, among others."

What are the dangers of Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)?
"Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), also known as butylhydroxytoluene, is a lipophilic organic compound, chemically a derivative of phenol, that is useful for its antioxidant properties. European and U.S. regulations allow small percentages to be used as a food additive. While there may be some dispute in BHT's use in the human diet, the chemical is widely used in industry wherever oxidation in fluids (e.g. fuel, oil) and other materials must be treated, and free radicals must be kept in check."

Two Preservatives to Avoid? BHA and BHT.Butylated Compounds
"Pick up a bag of chips, a bottle of vegetable oil, a package of sausage or a box of cereal or cookies and chances are you’ll find BHA and/or BHT in the ingredients list.

BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) and BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) are widely used by the food industry as preservatives, mainly to prevent oils in foods from oxidizing and becoming rancid. Oxidation affects the flavor, color and odor of foods and reduces some nutrients. BHA and BHT may have some antimicrobial properties, too. BHT is even sold in supplements, as an antioxidant."

Telomere extension turns back aging clock in cultured human cells, study finds
"A new procedure can quickly and efficiently increase the length of human telomeres, the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes that are linked to aging and disease, according to scientists...

"Few procedure can quickly and efficiently increase the length of human telomeres, the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes that are linked to aging and disease, according to scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Treated cells behave as if they are much younger than untreated cells, multiplying with abandon in the laboratory dish rather than stagnating or dying.
The procedure, which involves the use of a modified type of RNA, will improve the ability of researchers to generate large numbers of cells for study or drug development, the scientists say. Skin cells with telomeres lengthened by the procedure were able to divide up to 40 more times than untreated cells. The research may point to new ways to treat diseases caused by shortened telomeres.
Telomeres are the protective caps on the ends of the strands of DNA called chromosomes, which house our genomes. In young humans, telomeres are about 8,000-10,000 nucleotides long. They shorten with each cell division, however, and when they reach a critical length the cell stops dividing or dies. This internal "clock" makes it difficult to keep most cells growing in a laboratory for more than a few cell doublings."

Simple Homemade 3-Ingredient Facial Oil Moisturizer – Customize It For Your Own Gorgeous Skin
"Crunchy rule: Never, ever use facial oil or moisturizer on a dirty face. Always cleanse in some way first – whether it’s with cleansing grains, honey, the oil cleansing method (though you may not even need moisturizer if you do that), or your favorite prepared facial cleanser. If you put oil or moisturizer on top of a dirty face, you’ll just help seal in all that dirt and grime and old, nasty oil, which will make your face decidedly UNHAPPY....
Ingredient Number One – Your “Base” or “Carrier” Oil
In all actuality, you might want to just buy a base oil to begin with and test it with your face. See if your skin loves the base oil you choose, and then you can build on that. And, in even further actuality, just one ingredient may be all you ever want.
Your base oil is going to be the main ingredient in your facial oil blend, so choose well...
Here are the base oils you could choose from (this is not an exhaustive list, but it’s most of ‘em):
Plan on your base oil being at least 2/3 of your facial oil mixture (we’ll talk about mixing at the end).

- Apricot kernel oil (great for any skin type, but especially good for normal, dry, and aging skin)

What is Kokum Butter?
"Kokum Butter, from India, is prized for its essential fatty acid content. One of the most balanced, of all the botanicals, it is the perfect addition to all of your bath and body lotions, creams and butter blends.
Kokum Butter is one of the hardest of the natural butters, with a complex of oleic, palmitic, and stearic acid content, it's a great addition to products where you'd like to reduce, or avoid, straight fatty acids for better label appeal.
Kokum Butter is well known for it's emollient, and regenerative, properties making it one of the best choices for damaged skin preparations. One of the most useful butters for inflamed skin preparation and enhanced barrier formation.
Kokum Butter, in formulation, is high enough in fatty acids to improve emulsion stability and offer thickness without stiffness. Perfect for all of your bath and body products.

Scientists reverse ageing process in mice; early human trials showing 'promising results'
"The research has focused on mice, but early clinical trials have also been conducted on humans.
The scientists said they switched youthful genes on and older genes off, using naturally occurring proteins and molecules.
Professor of genetics at Harvard and UNSW, David Sinclair, led the research team.
AUDIO: Listen to Sue Lannin's report (The World Today)
"We've discovered genes that control how the body fights against ageing and these genes, if you turn them on just the right way, they can have very powerful effects, even reversing ageing - at least in mice so far," he said.
"We fed them a molecule that's called NMN and this reversed ageing completely within just a week of treatment in the muscle, and now we're looking to reverse all aspects of ageing if possible."
Professor Sinclair said the breakthroughs could be used to develop drugs to restore youthfulness in human cells.
"We've gone from mice into early human studies actually. There have been some clinical trials around the world, and we're hoping in the next few years to know if this will actually work in people as well," he said.
The clinical trials were small studies but showed promising results in humans, he said.
"They show that the molecules that extend lifespan in mice are safe in people; they seem to be anti-inflammatory, so they might be useful against disease's inflammation, like skin redness or even inflammatory bowel disease," he said.
"Eventually we want these molecules to be taken by many people to prevent diseases of ageing and make them live longer, healthier lives."
Professor Sinclair was named by Time Magazine as one of most influential people in the world.
