Who was Lenny Bruce?
"Leonard Alfred Schneider (October 13, 1925 – August 3, 1966), better known by his stage name Lenny Bruce, was an American stand-up comedian, social critic and satirist.
He was renowned for his open, free-style and critical form of comedy which integrated satire, politics, religion, sex, and vulgarity. His 1964 conviction in an obscenity trial was followed by a posthumous pardon, the first in New York State history, by then-Governor George Pataki in 2003. He paved the way for future outspoken counterculture-era comedians, and his trial for obscenity is seen as a landmark for freedom of speech in the United States"

Who is Jonathan Winters?
"The real Jonathan Winters was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 11, 1925. After attending public school in Springfield, he joined the Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. After serving two-and-a-half years in the South Pacific, he returned to Ohio and attended Kenyon College.
His interest in art led him to Dayton Art Institute where he studied for over two years and met the girl who would become his wife, Eileen.

Eileen encouraged Jonathan to enter a local talent contest in Dayton, which he did, and he won a wrist watch, but the performance led him to a job as an early morning disc-jockey on radio station WING in Dayton (1946).
This job led him to WBNS-TV in Columbus where he worked for three years. In 1953, Jonathan headed for New York for the "big time" with $56.46 in his pocket. As a performer at Manhattan's Blue Angel nightclub, his reputation as a comic began to grow. Garry Moore, who was substituting for Arthur Godfrey on the TV Show "Talent Scouts", presented Jonathan on the show. Then came the Jack Paar Show, The Steve Allen Show, and The Tonight Show, where Jonathan was able to demonstrate his comic genius and he became a top name in American Comedy.
Eileen Schauder Winters, wife of Jonathan Winters for over sixty years, died on January 11, 2009. Following her long battle with breast cancer, she passed away at home surrounded by her family.
Jonathan has two children and five grandchildren. He lives in Santa Barbara, where he paints and writes when he is not performing. He is also currently at work on his autobiography.

Modern Family
"Modern Family is an American comedy series which debuted on ABC on September 23, 2009. Presented in mockumentary style, the fictional characters frequently talk directly into the camera. The program is the story of Jay Pritchett, his second wife, his stepson, and their infant son; and his two adult children and their families. Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan conceived the series while sharing stories of their own "modern families".
The series premiered to critical acclaim and was watched by 12.6 million viewers. Early on, it was named as a key holder for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards. On October 8, 2009 the series was picked up for a full season. The series has received positive reviews from critics and received several award nominations. It has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in each of the past four years and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series three times so far as well, twice for Eric Stonestreet and once for Ty Burrell, as well as the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series twice for Julie Bowen. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
The syndication rights to the show have also been sold to USA Network and 10 Fox affiliates for a fall 2013 premiere.[9][10][11] The success of the show has also led it to being the tenth-highest revenue-generating show for 2012, earning $2.13 million an episode. Brian Lowry, of Variety, sums up the show regarding the airing of the pilot episode: "Flitting among three storylines, it's smart, nimble and best of all, funny, while actually making a point about the evolving nature of what constitutes 'family'".
On May 10, 2013, Modern Family was renewed for a fifth season, which premiered on September 25, 2013"

Humor Can Save a Relationship, or Sink It
"A “good” sense of humor is something most of us look for in a mate—but what does that mean exactly? Psychologists have identified four main types of humor, and one stands out as especially helpful in romantic relationships.
4 Ways to Tickle a Funny Bone
According to researchers charged with the unfunny business of analyzing jokes and jests, humor can be divided into four broad categories:
Affiliative humor is positive and outwardly directed—and it works best for strengthening relationships. This type of humor uses jokes or witty banter to brighten up someone else’s day or lighten up an interpersonal conflict. You’re laughing with—not at—another person about something relatively neutral, from a gag in a movie to the quirks of a job. In a tough situation, this brand of humor sends a powerful message that “we’ll get through this together, smiling.”
Self-enhancing humor is positive, but inwardly directed. It involves having an amused outlook on life. In a difficult situation, being able to see the funny side can reduce stress, so it’s great for psychological health. Yet self-enhancing humor isn’t aimed directly at building a relationship the way affiliative humor is.
