10 Reasons To Try Natural Birth Control from Mind Body Green
"There are several methods of fertility awareness out there. My favorite is The Billings Method, developed by husband and wife team Drs. John and Evelyn Billings in the 1950s.
The method involves observing the changes in female mucus secretions throughout the month. These secretions follow a distinct pattern. Once you become aware of this, it’s very easy to see the differences.
Simply by placing a finger at the opening of the vulva, a woman (or her partner) can observe the consistency of the mucus and instantly know whether she is fertile or not.
The method is sexy, easy, safe and once you learn it, takes about five seconds a day to use.
Using iPhone apps that guess at your fertile window, playing “just the tip” or using “withdrawal” as a birth control methods is like playing Russian roulette. Employing a method with a 99.5% — 100% success rate gives you a precise answer.
Here are 10 reasons to give natural birth control a try:
1. It’s as effective as The Pill. Or more.
2. You’ll keep your breasts.
3. You’ll revive your libido.
4. You become more in tune with your body.
5. You’ll preserve the natural rhythms of your hormones and your cycle.
6. It’s easy.
7. It’s sexy.
8. It’s free.
9. It will be easier for you to get pregnant, when you decide to.
10. Birth control becomes a shared responsibility.

What is Nitric Oxide and how does it help with blood flow (sex, endometriosis, circulation, etc)
"Some people think it's the gas that makes us laugh at the dentist office. Some think it's the fuel racecar drivers use to speed up their cars. But it's neither. Nitric oxide is a molecule that our body produces to help its 50 trillion cells communicate with each other by transmitting signals throughout the entire body.
Nitric oxide has been shown to be important in the following cellular activities:
• Help memory and behavior by transmitting information between nerve cells in the brain
• Assist the immune system at fighting off bacteria and defending against tumors
• Regulate blood pressure by dilating arteries
• Reduce inflammation
• Improve sleep quality
• Increase your recognition of sense (i.e. smell)
• Increase endurance and strength
• Assist in gastric motility
There have been over 60,000 studies done on nitric oxide in the last 20 years and in 1998, The Nobel Prize for Medicine was given to three scientists that discovered the signaling role of nitric oxide.

NATURAL TOOTH CARE: CAN YOU HEAL CAVITIES AND REGROW TEETH? from Naturally Savvy/ What is Comfrey Root?
Don't use egg shells... yucky, but a calcium carbonate supplement/powder could help :D
"Next up, comfrey root helps with tooth decay because of its ability to amp up bone, tissue, and tooth growth. Blend 1 square inch of comfrey root with 2 tablespoons of water and swish the liquid in your mouth.
Fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, D, E, and K are good for regrowth. Curtis Aiken of Co-Inside says that the following foods are good for regrowing your teeth: Celtic or Pink Himalayan salt, fermented foods, sea vegetables, soaked and sprouted nuts, coconut oil, greens, eggs, and animal flesh. Avoid refined foods that may include added sugars. And make sure you get ample vitamin D by enjoying some fun in the sun."

"Comfrey is a plant. Even though this plant contains poisonous chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), the leaf, root, and root-like stem (rhizome) are used to make medicine. The amount of PAs found in comfrey changes according to the time of harvesting and the age of the plant. The roots have 10 times higher amounts of PAs than the leaves. Some products labeled “common comfrey” or Symphytum officinale actually contain the more poisonous “prickly comfrey” (Symphytum asperum) or “Russian comfrey” (Symphytum x uplandicum) species.

Check out Frontier's herbal products
"Frontier began as a two-person operation in 1976 in a cabin along the Cedar River in Eastern Iowa. We have grown steadily since then to become a major supplier in the booming natural products industry. This outstanding performance throughout the years reflects our close harmony with both industry trends and the values of natural products consumers.

Frontier has demonstrated an aptitude for associating itself with trends that fuel success. The business was originally structured as a cooperative that supplied herbs and spices to its members, all of whom were cooperatives engaged in retailing natural foods or cooperative buying clubs. Being a co-op itself helped propel Frontier into national distribution in rapidly expanding natural foods "co-op movement."
Frontier also embraced many of the positive ideals underlying the popularity of co-ops. The early management envisioned a workplace where employees would enjoy their work, families would come first, the quality of products would be unsurpassed, organics would play a key role in the business and social responsibility would be inseparable from their actions. These values have been sustained—and have contributed significantly to Frontier’s success—throughout its entire history.
Initially Frontier acted as a wholesaler, repackaging several hundred varieties of herbs and spices into smaller one- and two-pound bags. Customers then resold these products in bulk to their retail customers, typically at a substantial discount to equivalent consumer-packaged products available in traditional supermarkets. In an effort to meet as many customer requests as possible, Frontier expanded its selection to include many uncommon herbs and spices, building both its supplier contacts and its reputation as a comprehensive source of botanical products.
In 1978 Frontier bought and converted a grocery store building in Fairfax, Iowa, into a 5,200 square foot operations facility."

What is L-tyrosine and how can it help anxiety?
"Lyrosine is one of the amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. The body makes tyrosine from another amino acid called phenylalanine. Tyrosine can also be found in dairy products, meats, fish, eggs, nuts, beans, oats, and wheat.
Tyrosine is used in protein supplements to treat an inherited disorder called phenylketonuria (PKU). People who have this problem can’t process phenylalanine properly, so as a result they can’t make tyrosine. To meet their bodies’ needs, supplemental tyrosine is given.
People take tyrosine for depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the inability to stay awake (narcolepsy), and improving alertness following sleep deprivation. It is also used for stress, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), alcohol and cocaine withdrawal, heart disease and stroke, ED (erectile dysfunction), loss of interest in sex, schizophrenia, and as a suntan agent and appetite suppressant.
Some people also apply tyrosine to the skin to reduce age-related wrinkles.
How does it work?
The body uses tyrosine to make chemical messengers that are involved in conditions involving the brain such as mental alertness."

Kava: A Natural Alternative To Anxiety Medication? from Reset.Me

Kava has been used in traditional, tribal settings on the islands of Fiji, Micronesia and Polynesia for hundreds of years. These cultures use the psychoactive beverage as a social and ceremonial offering in a way that’s often compared to how wine is used and consumed in European countries. Traditionally, after being harvested, the root is then pulverized, ground (often by mouth) and shredded. The herbal preparation is then repetitively strained into a bowl using a cold water extraction method, before being served in, and drunk out of, a half coconut shell. This preparation is enjoyed reverently due to its calming and sedating qualities. Because of these effects, growing evidence is starting to support claims that kava is useful for those suffering from insomnia, high stress, depression and anxiety. Interestingly, kava is proving to be as effective as dissolving anxiety as pharmaceutical drugs that are often prescribed for this condition.
The array of active ingredients responsible for the psychoactive effects of kava are known to science as kavaclones. These chemicals include compounds such as dihydrokavain, methysticum and kawaii, all of which have been thoroughly studied in laboratory settings. As a result, there’s empirical evidence that these compounds promote sleep, decrease convulsions and relax muscles in animals. The chemicals described have also shown to be effective painkillers, which is associated with the temporary numbness of the tongue that kava beverages induce when drunk. A double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled study conducted by The University of Melbourne in Australia found kava to be significantly more effective than a placebo at reducing anxiety in a group of 75 participants, all of whom were diagnosed with GAD (General Anxiety Disorder)."

10 Ways to Treat Depression Without Antidepressants by Sarah Landrum
"You’ve probably been told that antidepressants correct the chemical imbalance in your brain. As it turns out, that’s not quite true. In fact, antidepressants might be doing you more harm than good.
Even if antidepressants do work, the fact remains that they’re insanely expensive. Considering how depression treatments can last a lifetime, it’s impractical to spend something like $21 to $1,000 a month just to keep the blues under control. Depression is already a burden enough by itself, without all the financial consequences that come with it.
It’s better to view antidepressants as a last resort, and try some – or all – of these alternative treatments first.
1. Practice Mindfulness
2. Laugh
3. Don’t Isolate Yourself
4. Cut Toxic People Out of Your Life
5. Consider Alternative Drugs
6. Eat the Right Foods
7. Consider Acupuncture
8. Get Up and About
9. Grow a Garden
10. Volunteer for a Cause You Believe in
Bonus: Don’t Stop Fighting

Yohimbe Bark Extract as a Sexual Stimultant – Aphrodisiacs for Men from FutureScopes
What is Yohimbe? - warnings, etc.
"Yohimbe as a sexual stimulant, also useful for erectile dysfunction
Yohimbe is derived from the bark of the evergreen tree, Pausilinia yohimbe which was formerly known as Coryanthe yohimbe. This tree is native to West African forests and belongs to the Rubiaceae family. Why is yohimbe considered an aphrodisiac? The primary active constituent of yohimbe bark is yohimbine HCI or Indole alkaloid, a psychoactive chemical of the tryptamine chemical class. In the standardized form, this substance is known as yohimbine hydrochloride and sold in the United States as a prescription drug for sexual and erective dysfunction among men. As a sexual stimulant yohimbine works by blocking alpha-2 andrenergic receptors and improving the dilation of blood vessels. Both these processes are crucial in achieving and maintaining an erection among men since the increase in blood flow to the penis helps to bring about an erection. In its herbal form, yohimbine is believed to work in the same way as the standardized drug and this is the reason why the bark of the yohimbe tree figured as an popular aphrodisiac for men in traditional cultures.
Yet another way in which yohimbe works to treat impotence is by increasing the body’s production of the chemical norepinephrone which is an essential for the ability to have an erection.

5 Herbs to Help Erectile Dysfunction from Health Line
The "traditional" treatments just cover up the reasons why a person has a sexual problem and can be harmful. The only one I could see someone using is the penis pump and stopping alcohol and tobacco use. Weight has nothing to do with sexual dysfunction;however, eating healthy does. As always, do research before taking these supplements as everyone is different.
Some awesome treatments include
- Panax Ginseng
- Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)
- L-arginine
- Yohimbe
- Pinus pinaster
Maca: Peru's Natural Viagra @ How Stuff Works
"The South American country of Peru is home to numerous beneficial plants, including Peruvian maca root, a legendary sex-enhancing root passed down from the Inca. I'd heard about Peruvian maca herb and extract for years. Peruvian maca root has been dubbed "Peruvian ginseng," even though it bears no relation to ginseng. But like ginseng, the maca plant is employed into a Peruvian maca extract to increase strength, energy, stamina, libido and sexual function, a winning combination of health benefits if there ever was one.
To investigate maca's health benefits and understand the role that maca plays in Peruvian culture, my wife and I headed down to Peru to explore the maca trail. In the process we met with maca traders, growers and scientists, and came back tremendously impressed by this plant, which is now available as a supplement in U.S. health food stores."
