PAVLOK

"Pavlok uses vibration, beep and electric stimulation to help you change your habits.

Some habits are "self jolt", e.g., smoking, nail biting and going to the gym.

Other habits can be set with our app, e.g., waking up on time or staying off time-wasting websites.

Electric stimulus is scientifically proven with 80+ years of testing to be extremely effective at habit change.

And it works fast -- in most cases 5 days or less."

Check out Not Blowing Smoke (facts about vaping)

"Addiction to tobacco tax money
"California’s position as a leader in tobacco control is under threat by the resurgence of the tobacco industry, the emergence of new unregulated tobacco products, and the decreasing spending power of the tobacco control program."

Tobacco Control in California, 2007-2014: “A Resurgent Tobacco Industry While Inflation Erodes the California Tobacco Control Program”, published by The Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco.

States have borrowed against tobacco tax revenue
Sales are increasing to companies not paying into the MSA

Cigarette shipments declined by an above average 6.45% in 2010, following a 9.2% decline in 2009. MSA receipts declined by 5.6% in 2011. The revenue reductions forced California to need debt reserves to meet full interest and minimum serial bond principal repayments for 2011. Since then it has not gotten any better!"

Are You at Risk for Sudden Death?Being young and fit may not protect you from a heart attack

It says men, but women need to be aware as well.

"Heart attacks aren't just for older, overweight men with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Doctors are seeing patients in their 40s come in with heart disease due to self-inflicted risk factors, according to Ilan Wittstein, M.D., an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and its Heart Institute. Middle-aged men need to be on guard. Even if you work out and eat healthy, you could still be at risk.

Beware of Risk Factors

"In half of the cases of heart attacks, the heart attack is the first time the patient finds out about heart disease," says Richard A. Stein, director of preventive cardiology at Beth Israel Medical Center and spokesperson for the American Heart Association. More than 60 percent of heart attacks have to do with simple lifestyle issues, such as diet, exercise and cigarette smoking, and easy to detect and treat medical issues such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. "Men need to know about the risk factors that predict the majority of heart disease cases," Stein says. "

  1. Stress Less
  2. Release the Pressure
  3. Modify Your Lifestyle:
  •                                                  Be aware of major risk factors
  • Make a lifestyle change
  • Make an appointment to be evaluated:
  • Don't deny cardiac symptoms:
  • Use medication: Asprin is great.
  • Extra: Take up meditation, yoga, tai-chi

One example of a craving journal page from Psych Central. For food, just use "food cravings," instead of "cigarette craving."

Adult pacifier (for anxiety/oral fixation/quitting smoking/overeating/AB relationships)

"During the oral stage, the infant's primary source of interaction occurs through the mouth, so the rooting and sucking reflex is especially important. The mouth is vital for eating, and the infant derives pleasure from oral stimulation through gratifying activities such as tasting and sucking. Because the infant is entirely dependent upon caretakers (who are responsible for feeding the child), the infant also develops a sense of trust and comfort through this oral stimulation.

The primary conflict at this stage is the weaning process--the child must become less dependent upon caretakers. If fixation occurs at this stage, Freud believed the individual would have issues with dependency or aggression. Oral fixation can result in problems with drinking, eating, smoking, or nail biting."

A pacifier is a great way to try to break worse habits such as nail biting, lip chewing, or other anxiety relieving tactics. Even some eating habits if you are TRYING to lose weight since sometimes putting food in the mouth can be related to an oral fixation(that's okay though, no shame allowed here!), trying to stop smoking, etc. Of course this is not the best way to cope, but no one is perfect and it's better than chewing your lip and checks off and smoking disgusting cancer causing cigs. There is also use for an adult pacifier during adult baby (AB) relationships, but that is a different post (check in the alt. sex category!) You can even use it to practice sucking.... ;)

American Spirit Cigarettes: Not Healthy and Not Native

"American Spirit tobacco products pose difficult ethical challenges.  The products, made by the Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, are made of organic and natural tobacco and do not contain many of the harmful chemicals of other brands. The fact that American Spirit contains organic tobacco means that many smokers who use American Spirit products claim that the cigarettes are safer and better for smokers than the usual commercially available cigarettes. But is  it true or even desirable?

Santa Fe itself does not make such claims, but some smokers believe that switching from some brands—such as Camel or Marlboro—to an organic cigarette will actually be a ‘healthy’ decision.  American Spirit, the only U.S. brand made of “100% certified organic tobacco,” clearly states on its homepage: “No additives in our tobacco does NOT mean a safer cigarette.” And though American Spirit contains links to sites that may help a smoker quit, the company is still pedaling a carcinogenic product—even though it uses organic products.
American Spirit Cigarettes: Not Healthy and Not Native
According to the American Cancer Society, 60 of the 4,000 or so chemicals in cigarette smoke are linked to cancer. In 2001, PETA and other animal activists applauded American Spirit for becoming the first-ever cruelty-free cigarette in the U.S. as the first company to refuse to fund any smoking tests on animals.

Some critics also question the use by American Spirit of a Native American on its packaging, especially considering that the Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company states that it “is not an American Indian enterprise, nor are we affiliated with any American Indian groups.” Rather, American Spirit products are “based on our belief in the traditional American Indian usage of tobacco—in moderation and in its natural state.” The makers of American Spirit, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, is owned by R.J. Reynolds, the world’s second largest tobacco company (behind Philip Morris), which also owns Camel, Winston, Salem, Kool, Pall Mall, other cigarette brands. Santa Fe operates as a wholly owned, independent subsidiary of RJR."
