My name is Debbie. I live in California, and I was diagnosed with BPD a few years ago but had been suffering from it for over a decade. As of 2013, following an intense commitment to learn and follow through with the practice of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, I no longer meet the criteria for the diagnosis. DBT continues to remain an important part of my life on a daily basis. I now actually co-facilitate online DBT classes worldwide at DBT Path with a licensed therapist to help my peers like YOU!
I am putting my stuff out there because there are people in this world who have been through or are going through similar things - maybe not quite as bad, maybe worse. I want you to know that you are NOT alone. You are a survivor. You are strong, and no matter what anyone says, you can heal and get well.
I am in the process of healing and am in recovery. I don't claim to be all well. I have my days where I backslide on a large scale, and I have days where I show a lot of progress. As time goes on, I seem to be more aware and insightful, as I hope you will see in my writing. But, we have to remember, it is all a journey, and we each have a voice worthy of being heard.
I completed over two years of a weekly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group, which helps many conditions but was especially designed to help those with Borderline Personality Disorder, and it is helping a lot. I'll be talking about my experience in the groups in my posts.
