[Pic] Measuring tape - *I refuse to be defined by this*

"Too many of us determine our happiness and success each day according to the size/weight of our bodies. Our opinions of ourselves as women sometimes stem from a narrow focus on measurements that don't really mean much at all in terms of our *actual* happiness and health, even though our $-driven culture tells us they do. We subconsciously believe the lie that thinner (or curvier, lighter, darker, or whatever ideal feels strongest in your life) = happier, more loveable, healthier, BETTER in all cases. But, on some level, we all know that isn't true. The happiest moments in your life weren't the happiest because you looked perfect, and the worst moments weren't because you looked your worst. The most ideal-looking people don't always have the most ideal lives or relationships or self-perceptions and the least ideal-looking people don't always have the worst lives, relationships and self-perceptions.

Fixing the way we feel about our bodies and ourSELVES starts in our minds, not on the outsides of our bodies! If you are caught in the trap of thinking you'll finally feel comfortable with your body or be happy after you [insert "fix": breast implants, tummy tuck, drop x lbs...], please understand life and positive body image do not work like that. Letting go of those ideas can be tough, but not as tough as wasting your time, $$ and health on crash diets or risky procedures only to feel the same about your body or your life afterward. Your reflection does not have to define your worth or determine your happiness. Please believe that. "
