6 Total A**hole Moves People Make When They're Getting Healthy by Chelsea Fagan @ distractify.
my thoughts are in italics, the writer's thoughts are on the article itself so click the link to see them
"Getting healthy is a great thing. And as someone who has done it (with varying degrees of success) in the past, I can confirm that those first few months of making a change are really, really hard. You want to talk to people about it, and let everyone know the progress you've made.
But you shouldn't be an asshole. And yet, so many people are when they get on the health train, and it's usually because they are doing one (or all) of these 6 things. "
1. They get really pretentious about "eating right," when they should be the last person to judge.
"It's one thing to encourage people to eat more fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins along with you. You can post photos of what you're making, talk about how much you enjoy salads or whatever, and generally keep things positive. But going on condescending rants about how sugar is the devil, and the occasional fast food dinner is basically child abuse," I agree with this a bit but not fully. Fast food is loaded with DISGUSTING things no one should EVER eat. It's easy to make your own at home, and a vegan version (going vegan doesn't = restriction/weight loss) I'd for you.No, hydrogenated oils, non-organic oils are bad for you. Did you know pure cane sugar, maple syrup and a few natural (not that splenda shniz) sugar have tons of healthy benefits? They see the word "fat" or something and go insane. Which is actually WHY I created Chunkealthy Life
2. They post before & after pictures... before there is a difference.
3. They become way too into #fitspo.
Nothing wrong with this, but I agree with the writer people on a weight loss journey shove it in people's faces which is kinda like putting down fat people.
4. They also post mirror selfies with 1,000-word captions about how #blessed they are to be making this change.

"concerned people" who are actually bigots hide behind...by WLI
Homophobes /transphobes hide behind the Bible even though many argue it has been taken out of context completely and have evidence to prove that. Plus, Jesus and God loves everyone.
Racists hide behind the Bell Curve starting it's "real" science. And they preach those facts about how certain neighborhoods have a higher crime rate because of race, not because of poverty or because of stereotyping which prevents people from getting a job, etc.
People who hate fat people hide behind "it's unhealthy" even though there have been numerous reports stating otherwise.
See a pattern?
So, never let anyone shame you...
They are a bigot no matter how much they try to hide behind "evidence" (by the way that "evidence" is usually outdated and incorrect and from sources benefiting from something)

My Mom Was Fat Shamed By A Surgeon
Taken from A Girl With A Lot of Gut
"Two years ago my mother started to develop a protrusion in her abdominal area. It was of concern because she had previously had two hernia repairs in that area. She visited the doctor who performed the hernia surgeries. He basically told her she was overweight and if she lost 20 pounds she would be fine. I was not convinced that this would work nor was she. She was advised by her family doctor to get a second opinion. The second doctor told her losing weight would in no way fix her issue, it was not a weight issue. What was happening in my moms abdominal area was a separation if her rictus muscles, also known as diastasis rictus, in combination with a ventral hernia. The only remedy for this type of situation is an abdominal reconstruction with a ventral hernia repair. My mom asked if she could avoid such a major surgery if she did in fact lose 20 pounds. His answer was simply, no.
The most common cause of this condition is pregnancy. My mom had two children. When she became pregnant with me she weighed less than 100lbs., I weighed in at over 8lbs. at birth. 26 months later my brother was born . She lost all of her pregnancy weight but ,as the doctor said ,that was probably when the muscles began to separate.
My mom struggles with her confidence and self esteem and when that doctor told her she was fat and needed to lose 20lbs. it really effected her...."

If You're Fat-Phobic, You're Also An Ignorant, Bigoted Idiot
I think this is the only time I could read an article from Jezebel and not want to punch myself in the face.
"big•ot (noun): A person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
If you think that watching a fat person walk across the room is "gross," and if you think not allowing readers to comment on a woman's weight is "glorifying" obesity, you are a bigot. You are treating a group — people who weigh more than "normal" (whatever that is) — with hatred and intolerance.

We live in a society that constantly sends messages to women, telling them they are not good enough the way they are. Advertising campaigns, women's magazines and other types of media try to cajole us into wanting to be sexier, shinier and yes, thinner. But — and this is important — THIN and HEALTHY are not the same thing. And: FAT and UNHEALTHY are also not the same thing.
Some skinny people smoke, do drugs and eat fatty foods.
Some fat people exercise regularly and eat healthy foods.
As we've mentioned before, Steven N. Blair, one of the nation's leading experts on the health benefits of exercise, is short and fat. He runs every day.
