Advice from a user @ bluelight on thread called "The "feels so good to touch" feeling

"The hypothalamus lies between the brainstem and the cerebral cortex.
It is the MAIN connection between the nerves from your entire body and your endocrine system.
It connects to the pituitary gland and the adrenaline glands.

Read all. Dangers of abusing MDMA.

"The hypothalamus is directly responsible for MANY of the neurochemical reactions to MDMA.
From ADH to oxyotocin and prolactin...

The prolactin is the most important to the 'touch' sensation.
When you peak, your cortisol levels (which are massive) taper off.
Then you feel a surge of prolactin, which is enhances tactile sensation and social interaction.
It is also responsible for the sexual benefits including both delayed ejaculation in men and the sense of experiencing orgasm during the entire encounter!
Normally prolactin only occurs in large amounts after orgasm or childbirth, but MDMA makes it happen along with dopamine release.

Jason Silva: Psychedelics Can Compress A Decade Of Therapy Into A Few Hours by Aaron Kase

"Silva noted theory by a leading psychopharmacologist named Ronald Siegel speculating that the desire to alter our consciousness is as natural for humanity as the pursuit of sex and shelter. “Literally human beings are just wired to experiment with their perceptions of the world,” said Silva. “Part of what it means to have an imagination and have a consciousness is to probe the perimeters of our perception.”
The philosopher and freestyler argued that the use of psychedelics is essential to cognitive liberty, whether they are taken for medicinal, therapeutic or recreational purposes. “Your boundaries dissolve,” Silva said. “What does that result in? Humility. Compassion. Empathy for the other. These tools blast new tunnels between the mind and the other. And it leads to a different way of looking at the world.”"

Watch Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution

"CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta has returned to the topic of medical marijuana in a third installment of his game-changing documentary series, Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution.
Make no mistake these documentaries have served as the effective bull-horn for the medical marijuana movement.  In the run up to the original Weed,Dr. Gupta wrote an op-ed where he formally apologized for his previous position on medical marijuana.
“I apologize because I didn’t look hard enough, until now. I didn’t look far enough. I didn’t review papers from smaller labs in other countries doing some remarkable research, and I was too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis.” -Sanjay Gupta, August 2013"

How Psilocybin ‘Magic’ Mushrooms Reconnect Us With Nature from Reset (dot)me

"Indeed, although psilocybe semilanceata (colloquially, the ‘liberty cap’ mushroom) grows in the British Isles (and elsewhere), its cultural history in Great Britain begins with some purported use by the 1950s Beats, who were likely awakened to it by news of Wasson’s article. There is no mention in the literature of an intentional use until the 1970s, according to Andy Letcher, author of Shroom: A Cultural History of the Magic Mushroom. Therefore, the story of the magic mushroom is one of disclosure and of revelation.
On the one hand, it is a cultural history revealing itself, sometimes in a self-aware manner, sometimes not, but on the other hand — and this is true of all psychedelic substances — it has a mystery at its very heart, which is to say in one’s experience of consuming them. It is not just eyes able to discern the liberty cap in the grasses and identify which genus it belongs to, it is an intentionalised experience, an altered state of experience, that has emerged into a society that is ill-equipped to deal with it (and arguably the first to be in this rather child-like, naïve, state).
Moreover, the Western culture that psilocybe mushrooms have emerged into is arguably the most environmentally alienated culture to have existed to date. The post-industrialised West has, for several hundred years, viewed nature and the environment with utilitarian eyes, as an object to exploit; whether this be for increasing profit, progressing civilisation, or simply good old fashioned colonialisation. Interestingly, just as knowledge of the ‘sacred mushroom’ proliferated, the modern environmental movement also began to emerge alongside it. For instance, Silent Spring (1962) by Rachel Carson, which explored the destruction of wildlife through the widespread use of pesticides...."

Beginner’s Guide To The Endocannabinoid System — The Reason Our Bodies So Easily Processes Cannabis Photo by Jan Faukner.

"Cannabis medications work so efficiently because of the endocannabinoid (EC) system, present in all humans and many animals as well. This system consists of a series of receptors that are configured only to accept cannabinoids, especially tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Not enough research has been done on the other ones, cannabinol (CBN) and cannabigerol (CBG) plus others, to know much about their mechanisms of effect.
This system, an integral part of our physiologies, was discovered in the mid-1990s by Israeli researcher Dr. Ralph Mechoulam who also identified THC as the main active ingredient in cannabis in the early 1960s. Israel has been one of the most progressive nations for cannabis research and currently has one of the most advanced medical marijuana programs in the world. They are international leaders in advanced greenhouse technology, routinely producing flowers with 20 percent or greater THC.
Dr. Mechoulam’s world-changing research discovered two main receptors, cannabinoid 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid 2 (CB2), that are keyed to both the endocannabinoids that our body naturally produces and phytocannabinoids (plant-based) like THC and CBD. Our bodies actually produce the ECs similar to how our body produces narcotic-like endorphins. Synthetic cannabinoids, like the ones found in Marinol, also fit the receptor sites but don’t work as efficiently as the natural ones."

Psychoactive Ayahuasca Plant Might Be The Key To Reversing Diabetes by Nabil Ansari @ Science Times

""In children and adults with type 1 diabetes, they have lost 99 percent of their beta cells, so they cannot make enough insulin. That's the cause of their diabetes."
Steward says, "In the world of beta cell regeneration, you can do it in two ways. You can either use stem cells, create stem cells and then transplant them. Or you could take a drug that makes your own beta cells grow."

Though the stem cell method looks promising, Steward says that there will definitely be difficulties with the procedure as it is invasive, and also considering the current demand, there won't be enough supply.

Steward's team has been screening a huge volume of chemicals (more than 100,000) to see which chemical has the potential/ability to regenerate the beta cells. They ended with 86 possible solutions that were then tested manually.

Out of those 86 chemicals, one drug triggered the beta cell growth. This drug is known as harmine.

Harmine is a chemical that naturally occurs in a number of plants around the world, and it is one of the ingredients recently found in the psychoactive mixture of the plant Ayahuasca.

Check out EcstacyData (dot)org to send in drug samples for testing

"Our Mission
EcstasyData.org is an independent laboratory pill testing program of Erowid Center. Launched in July 2001, its purpose is to collect, manage, review, and present laboratory pill testing results. The information is made publicly available to help harm-reduction efforts, medical personnel, and researchers. While some government agencies analyze pill contents, they choose to restrict the data they collect and make it private to law enforcement interests.

EcstasyData.org collects lab testing results from a variety of organizations, but primarily commissions its own tests conducted by Drug Detection Lab (DDL) in Sacramento. All samples submitted to EcstasyData are done so by mail and we have no physical, on-site analysis presence. We are also interested in helping other groups publish and manage their testing data. Please contact us for more information.

Supporting Organizations
Erowid.org
Erowid Center runs the EcstasyData program, working with the testing laboratory to process submission, publishing results, collecting data from other testing organizations, developing software, and maintaining the Ecstasydata.org website."
